Article summary

General Configuration

Recycle Bin provides an insurance policy for IBM Cognos Analytics users as they manage objects in Team Content.  Typically, when an object is deleted from the IBM Cognos Analytics Content Store, that object is permanently obliterated and cannot be recovered without a backup.  Recycle Bin listens and intercepts IBM Cognos Analytics messages to delete objects and saves a copy of those objects.

Select the Configuration tab after opening Administration from the ICS slide-out.

Content will be saved for the specified number of days, and when exceeded, the content will be permanently deleted.

Recycle Bin Content

The entire Recycle Bin content can be accessed by the Administrator from the Recycle Bin option on the ICS slide-out. Any IBM Cognos Analytics user can access the Recycle Bin in the same manner.  When viewing the Recycle Bin, the user will only be able to access, recover or obliterate content that they have deleted themselves. It is not possible for users to access other users Recycle Bin’s from this user interface.  Users that have access to the administrative version of the Recycle Bin, will have the ability to review any user’s recycle bin.  The Administrator can then choose to restore or obliterate one or many objects from multiple users recycle bins.

The search bar at the top of the Recycle bin table allows the user to filter by Original Location and Date Deleted.  Administrators can also filter by user for all current recycled content.  Note that in some instances, Report Administrators may not have all the necessary privileges to recover content on-behalf of other users.  For example, a Report Administrator may not be authorized to recover the credentials portion of a schedule for a user’s report. In these circumstances either a System Administrator or the user who deleted the content should perform the restoration.
