MetaManagerTM Control Panel

Use the MetaManagerTM Control Panel to load and navigate the various product modules.

To begin using the Control Panel, you can:

  1. Set product options.

  2. Navigate the various Help menu options.

View Modules

There are many ways to navigate the various modules within MetaManagerTM. Among them, you may:

  • Select any of the module buttons within the Module Sidebar on the left side of the application.

  • Select any of the options from within the View menu.

Once selected, modules appear in the right pane of the MetaManagerTM Control Panel. We recommend that you work in one module at a time and completely finish processing from one module before starting work in any other module. This best practice ensures that changes made to any object(s) within one module are accurately reflected before beginning work in another module.

Tip: You can hide or show the module sidebar. From the View menu, select Module Sidebar. Alternatively, you can click on the collapse or expand control.

Secure Modules

MetaManagerTM has the ability to install capabilities for each module into the IBM Cognos content store. Those capabilities can be used to grant or deny access to specific MetaManagerTM modules to any user, group or role.

To enable these capabilities, you must restore the “MMModuleSecurity.mmz” using Restore Module in MetaManagerTM. This file is located in your ‘BSP\MetaManagerTM’ directory.

Manage Modules

Manage Modules gives you the ability to control which modules appear in the Module Tray on the Welcome page and indicates your access to various modules.

Transaction Manager

MetaManagerTM records a transaction entry for each change that is made to the IBM Cognos Content Store. These transactions can later be used for reverting bulk changes. Currently Transaction Manager is only supported in specific modules. After applying a bulk change in one of the supported modules, the user can navigate to the Transaction Manager console to review and revert an entire bulk change or just a part of it.

Modules that support Transaction Manager:

  • Find / Replace

  • Pagelets Blasters

  • Report Validator

  • Screen Tip Generator

  • Security Editor

  • Specification Editor

  • Template Blasters

Within the Transaction Manager Screen a user can view details of each transaction as well as revert any process that was made. Any transaction or part of a transaction can be reverted to undo the changes that were made to the object.

Transaction Manager UI

The left-hand side of UI indicates each MetaManagerTM session.  The numbers in parenthesis are the amount of transaction that were recorded during that session. At the bottom the transaction details displays who made the modification, the date/time, which module the changes were in, and some additional information on what kind of change was made.

By clicking “Details” the user can view all the transaction that were made and revert any number of the modification they want.

Log a Screenshot

This feature can be used when emailing support to help further explain an issue.  By selecting “Log a Screenshot” you will be prompted to enter a description of the screenshot and then click “OK”. The screenshot and the description will be saved to the MetaManagerTM’s session logs directory in a folder called “screenshots”.
