Introduction

MetaManagerTM simplifies and automates many of the complexities associated with metadata management, security, backup & recovery and more, at the developer, administrator and consumer level. As an extension to Framework Manager and IBM Cognos, MetaManagerTM provides functionality that automates and streamlines many of the manual processes within a Cognos deployment. In addition, MetaManagerTM enables much functionality that does not exist within the out-of-the-box Cognos products. With MetaManagerTM, administrators can:

Update - MetaManager’s Update Modules provide you with a suite of tools to perform common tasks more easily and more efficiently within your IBM Cognos environment, cutting down on the manual steps involved and increasing your productivity.

Secure - Maintaining a secure environment over time can become an unwieldy task. MetaManager's security modules help you audit, edit, replicate, replace, export and import security through one powerful and intuitive interface.

Deploy - If you've ever lost digital data before, you know the importance of backing it up. MetaManager's Backup/Restore/Deploy capabilities minimize mean time to recovery and provide flexible options for development to production deployment strategies.

Document - MetaManager's Documentation modules record meaningful business and compliance documents in a variety of output types. These flexible documentation capabilities provide you the tools to audit and manage projects as well as satisfy compliance needs.

Performance - The Performance modules provide at-a-glance performance information that is tailored specifically for IBM Cognos administrators, such as: real-time CPU and memory usage across the environment, view audit details for jobs and reports, manage services across multiple services, and much more.

TM1 - MetaManagerTM for TM1 delivers a powerful yet simple interface to unravel the complexities of TM1 applications, supporting everyone tasked with their creation, implementation, enhancement and maintenance.

Free Stuff - Four free modules have been created to address specific use cases. When users leave the company or simply no longer have access to IBM Cognos, valuable content such as reports, and analysis may be lost or become unavailable. This also includes our License Auditor. Which offers users the ability to compare their current purchased IBM Cognos Licenses with those they have in use to gauge their potential need for additional licenses.

Security Migration– The Security Migration Self-Service seamlessly migrates user’s identities from one security source in IBM Cognos to another. Customers migrating to new security sources can now safely and easily migrate each user’s identity to the new security source in a streamlined and automated fashion. BSP provides you with everything you need to perform the migration on your own, on your timelines, at your convenience!

Version Control - This module is part of the Integrated Control Suite but exists as part of the MetaManager download as a client-side application.  Integrated Change Management™ with Version Control provides a scalable, feature-rich versioning platform to fully support business policies, processes and regulatory requirements. Modifications made to reports during the development lifecycle are captured in real-time and stored alongside previous versions to provide a complete revision history which is easily accessible from the IBM Cognos Studios, Cognos Connection or through custom reporting.

Script Runner – MetaManager’s™ Script Runner provides easy to use access to common tasks within IBM Cognos. Commands can be scripted and executed within MetaManager’s™ Script Runner module using basic JavaScript. In addition, using ASP.Net it becomes trivial to add functionality to the IBM Cognos Connection interface, such as a link for users to unsubscribe from a report.
